For car rental, see "listings". Accommodation There's plenty of accommodation in Stockholm, especially for budget travellers, but don't turn up late in summer and expect to get a cheap bed. They exist, but will take effort and some walking around to find. For this reason, booking your first night's accommodation in advance is always a good idea, either through the Sverigehuset tourist centre or the hotel or hostel direct. Alternatively, use the services of Hotellcentralen, the room booking service on the lower level of Central Station QanMarch & OctDec MonFri 8.30am 5pm; April MonFri 8am5pm; MaySept daily 8am9pm; =0824 08 80), which holds comprehensive listings of hotel and hostel accommodation. Where they score over ringing yourself is by having the latest special offers direct from the hotels trying to fill beds; there's a booking fee of 25kr per room, 12kr for a youth hostel. Hotelcentrallen also features the Stockholm Package between midJune and midAugust (and at weekends all year round), a nifty arrangement whereby bookings made at certain hotels are rewarded with a free Stockholm Card for each night's stay. At the bottom end of the scale it can work out cheaply 260kr per person in twin room including breakfast, going right up to around 450kr per rson for a room in something very posh. This package can only be booked tnrough Hotellcentralen (who'll charge you a 25kr booking fee on top); there's no point turning up at individual hotels.
