It's a longer haul from Norway, and much more expensive, too: there are several daily buses from Oslo to Gothenburg, the journey taking five or six hours (230Nkr|; and one daily bus from Oslo to Stockholm, a ninehour ride (340Nkr|. From Finland most routes converge upon Helsinki or Turku and then use the ferry crossings to Stockholm; departures are at least once daily.
Ferries and catamarans
Ferry or catamaran services to Sweden are plentiful, but can be confusing not least because several operators run rival services on the same route. To make any sense of th timetables and prices, which change from year t year, check the companies' brochures at any Iq.!! tourist office. Prices range from around 25DKr for the short HelsingorHelsinqbom crossing to around 150Fmk for a'deckclass ticket from Helsinki; more prices are given belovn.
In addition, rail passes give discounts and free travel on some of the fern routes The Nordturist pass currently gives free passage on ferries between Helsinger and Helsingborg and on the TurkuStockholm and Fredrikshavn Gothenburg crossings; a 50 percent discount on the routes HelsinkiStockholm {Silja Line only) VaasaUmeS and R0nneYstad; and a 25 percent discount on the CopenhagenMalmo route.
From Denmark
Shortest and cheapest ferry crossings are HelsingerHelsingborg (25min; around 25Dkr) and DragorLimhamn near Malmo (55гл1п. around 30Dkr); just walk on board on both ferries' There are also yearround ferry connections to Gothenburg from Fredrikshavn, a threeanda halfhour journey costing around 90Dkr. And from GrenS, Lion sail daily to Varberg and Halmstad for a fare of around 130Dkr. Quicker (45min| are the catamaran services to Malmo and Helsingborg from Copenhagen though these crossings are often disrupted by frozen sea between November and March. The CopenhagenMalmo crossing, in particular, can cost as little as 3GDkr, depending on which company you use.
The other approach from Denmark is to come via the Danish island of Bornholm. Ferries (170Dkr) and catamarans (150Dkr) from Copenhagen run to Ranne {Nordturist gets a M percent discount), from where you can cross daily to Ystad, on the southern Swedish coast (around 95Dkr).
