If you want to drink, youll be expected to eat although early on a Monday you should be able to get way with just a beer or two.
Operakallaren, Operan, Gustav Adolfs Torg. A bill at the famous Opera House restaurant could seriously damage your wallet (starters from 130kr) but the daily smorgasbord (Mon Sat 11.30am3pm, Sun noon6pm) is fabulous and just about affordable around 250kr per person for a spread beyond compare. Otherwise, the daily lunch in the Cafe Opera, around the back, is about lOOkr.
Pepper, Torsgatan, Kungsholmen. Attractive Cajun restaurant with decentsized portions, but the usual high city centre prices. You may have to queue later in the evenings. Rolfs Kok Tegnergatan. Popular town centre eaterie (close to Hotorget) with a special line in Asian and Cajun stirfried food. Main dishes run from 100150kr.
Sawadee, Olofsgatan 6; next to Hotorget Tbana. Attractive Thai restaurant with a wonderful 150kr special dinner, reasonably priced drinks, and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Seigels Parla Pizzeria, Sergels Torg, in the underground arcade. Big pizzas, a daily salad or lasagne, all with bread and coleslaw for around 50kr; one of the city's best budg bargains and served all day. Open dmly llam9pm.
Teatercafeet Stadsteater, Sergels Torg. A daily set lunch (MonFri 10.30am3pm). always including a vegetarian dish; and a reasonably priced a la carte menu, too. Wardshuset MarkureUs, Vasagatan 26; opposite the Royal Viking Hotel. Popular and cheapish, mainly Swedish menu.

4 hi Bar Miyako, Kommendorsgatan 23. Open daily 5lOpm for sushi, sashimi and other Jaese specialities; also does takeaway food.
Gamla Stan
Bistro Rubi, OsterlSngatan. French bistro in the heart of the old town, tastefully done out in Parisian style. The food is fairly reasonably priced (75125kr for main dishes), and there's a wide selection of beers.
